England’s Euro 2025 star Chloe Kelly has issued an apology after swearing on stage during the Lionesses’ official victory celebrations in central London on Tuesday.

The England squad marked their European Championship triumph with an open-top bus parade through the capital, following their dramatic penalty shootout win over reigning world champions Spain.

Thousands of jubilant fans lined The Mall to catch a glimpse of the newly crowned champions. Spectators stood 20 to 30 deep along the route, with many hoisting children onto their shoulders as the players waved, danced, and captured the moment from the top deck of their buses.

Two buses, decorated with the word “Champions”, were accompanied by a marching band en route to a main stage set up in front of Buckingham Palace.

Several players addressed the crowd, including Kelly — the scorer of England’s decisive penalty — who enthusiastically declared:
“Thank you to everyone that got out to support us, whether that’s out in Switzerland or here today. It’s so f**** special.”**

The comment drew a mixture of cheers and gasps, prompting the 26-year-old to later post an apology on Instagram:
“Ooops. Emotions got the better of me. Sorry for the F bomb. Love, CK x.”

Team captain Leah Williamson had earlier adopted a more measured tone in her speech, saying:
“Everything we do, obviously we do it for us and our team, but we do it for the country and we do it for young girls. Thank you so much for being with us. Stay with us, this story is not done yet.”

The homecoming celebrations began on Monday upon the team’s return to England, where they were greeted by fans at the airport — many of whom ignored official advice not to gather.

Later that day, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner hosted the squad at a reception held at Number 10 Downing Street.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was in Scotland meeting US President Donald Trump at the time, congratulated the team via social media. Posting on X, he wrote:
“Back-to-back tournament wins. Inspiring the next generation. History makers.”
