A Birmingham City footballer has been charged with drink driving following a three-vehicle collision on Easter Monday.

According to Warwickshire Police, officers were called to the scene of a crash on the A3400 near Henley-in-Arden at approximately 10:30pm.

German striker Marvin Ducksch, 32, who is based in Solihull, has since been charged with driving with excess alcohol. He is due to appear before Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court on 20 May.

Earlier on the same day, Ducksch featured for Birmingham City in their 2–1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

In a statement, the EFL Championship club confirmed the charge and said the player had apologised.

“The club can confirm that Marvin Ducksch has been charged in relation to an offence of driving with excess alcohol.

“Marvin wishes to apologise to his teammates, staff and supporters of the club and accepts full responsibility for his actions.

“The matter has been dealt with internally and no further comment will be made at this time.”
