Arsenal have been dealt a significant injury setback ahead of their crucial Premier League fixture against Fulham, with key players ruled out and further fitness concerns emerging.

Manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber will both miss the weekend’s encounter, while captain Martin Ødegaard remains a doubt.

Ødegaard was forced off during Arsenal’s 1–1 draw with Atlético Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final earlier this week. Arteta was unable to provide a definitive update on the midfielder’s availability for the upcoming match.

“Kai and Jurrien will be out,” Arteta confirmed. When asked about Ødegaard’s condition, he added: “We will have to see.”

The Arsenal manager also indicated that preparations have been disrupted by a lack of full training sessions.

“We will assess everyone again tomorrow morning,” he said. “We have not been able to train extensively.”

The Gunners currently sit three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table and have the opportunity to extend their advantage to six points before City travel to Everton on Monday evening.

Attention will then quickly turn back to European competition, with Atletico Madrid due to visit the Emirates Stadium for the decisive second leg on Tuesday following this week’s draw in Spain.

There is some encouragement on the injury front, with both Havertz and Timber expected to return before the end of the season. Mikel Merino, who has been sidelined long term, could also feature again before the campaign concludes.

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka made his second consecutive substitute appearance in midweek, while Riccardo Calafiori returned to the matchday squad after recovering from injury.
