Marco Silva has left Fulham after five years in charge, with the club confirming his departure ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 48-year-old departs Craven Cottage “this summer” after a steady and successful tenure in west London, although he has not yet confirmed his next move. He has, however, been strongly linked with a potential return to Portugal with Benfica.

Silva’s time at Fulham saw him become one of the longest-serving managers in English football, ranking among the most enduring head coaches across the Premier League and the wider English league system.

In an emotional open letter to supporters, Silva reflected on his five years at the club and thanked fans for their backing throughout his spell in charge.

He said: “To our fans – I asked you, from day one, to always be with us. And that’s what you did these past five years. We achieved a lot together.

“My staff and I always felt your support. It will never be forgotten. Fulham will always be in my heart, and sooner or later I will be back at Craven Cottage.”

Fulham are now expected to begin their search for a successor as they prepare for a new era following Silva’s departure.
