Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has reportedly ruled out a move to Newcastle United this summer as uncertainty continues to surround his long-term future.

The England international is preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but attention also remains focused on where he will be playing his club football next season.

Rashford spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Barcelona, with the Spanish champions holding an option to make the deal permanent for a reported fee of £26 million before the agreed deadline.

However, reports in England suggest Barcelona are reluctant to activate the clause at its current value and are instead considering a significantly lower offer in an attempt to negotiate fresh terms with Manchester United.

United, meanwhile, are understood to prefer a permanent sale and remain keen to secure the originally agreed valuation should Barcelona decide to proceed.

Rashford Not Interested in Newcastle Switch

Despite reported interest from Newcastle United, Rashford is said to have little desire to make the move to St James’ Park.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the winger, while other reports suggest clubs including Aston Villa and Bayern Munich continue to monitor developments.

Nevertheless, current indications suggest Rashford’s preference remains unchanged, with the forward continuing to favour staying at Barcelona if a permanent agreement can be reached.

Rashford Previously Spoke Positively About Barcelona

During his spell in Spain, Rashford openly expressed admiration for Barcelona and spoke positively about his experience at the club.

Speaking earlier in the season, he described Barcelona as one of football’s historic institutions and acknowledged that representing the club had been an honour.

When later asked whether he expected to remain beyond the loan period, Rashford stopped short of making guarantees but made clear his enjoyment of life in Catalonia and his desire to continue competing for major honours.

Koeman Backs Permanent Move

Former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has also publicly encouraged the club to pursue a permanent deal for Rashford.

Following one of Barcelona’s standout performances against Real Madrid, Koeman praised the forward’s direct running, attacking threat and ability to influence big matches.

The Dutchman suggested that allowing Rashford to leave could prove a missed opportunity if his performances continue on their current trajectory.

For now, Rashford’s future remains unresolved, but reports continue to indicate that his priority is to remain at Barcelona rather than pursue alternatives elsewhere.
