Characters from Emmerdale are set to celebrate England’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 triumph in a special scene added to the ITV soap.
Emmerdale Characters to Celebrate Lionesses’ UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 Victory

Monday evening’s episode will open with Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) seen discussing the match with Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson), referencing England's dramatic victory over Spain. The final, which took place in Basel, Switzerland, ended 1-1 after regular time, with the Lionesses securing the title through a penalty shootout.
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw explained:
“With the nation getting behind the Lionesses, we knew the fictional characters in Emmerdale would’ve been doing just the same, so it felt right and proper that we should reflect this result on the show.”
The programme will also feature celebratory scenes in The Woolpack, where the characters are seen gathered to watch the match. The sequence was a last-minute addition following England’s win on Sunday.
This is not the first time Emmerdale has included real-world football events. Last year, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Moira Dingle (Natalie Robb) were shown discussing the UEFA Euro 2024 men’s final in a similar added scene, which featured an England flag hanging in the background. The men’s team, however, lost that final 2-1 to Spain.
Sunday’s match saw Spain take the lead in the 25th minute through Mariona Caldentey, but England equalised in the 57th minute thanks to a strike from Alessia Russo. After a tense period of extra time, the match went to penalties, with winger Chloe Kelly scoring the decisive spot-kick to secure the championship.
This marks the Lionesses’ second European title, following their historic 2022 win on home soil, where they beat Germany 2-1 after extra time at Wembley.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and Virgin Media One.
