Paris Saint-Germain moved to the verge of another Ligue 1 triumph after a late strike from Désiré Doué secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Stade Brestois 29 at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

The result leaves PSG on the brink of a record-extending 14th French league title, with Luis Enrique’s side now requiring only a draw in their rescheduled fixture against RC Lens on Wednesday to officially secure the championship.

PSG currently hold a six-point advantage over second-placed Lens with just two matches remaining. Although Lens still retain a mathematical chance of winning the title, Paris Saint-Germain possess a vastly superior goal difference of +44 compared to Lens’ +29.

Doué Produces Decisive Moment

In a match largely lacking attacking quality, Doué produced the decisive moment in the 83rd minute.

The talented youngster collected the ball on the left edge of the penalty area before weaving past three defenders and curling a composed finish into the bottom-right corner to finally break the deadlock.

Heavy rain throughout the evening contributed to difficult playing conditions, while the match was briefly interrupted during the first half due to a technical communication issue involving referee Jérôme Brisard and his assistants.

Lens Secure Champions League Football

Lens kept their slim title hopes alive with a 1-0 victory over FC Nantes on Friday.

The win guaranteed Lens qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League while simultaneously confirming Nantes’ relegation to Ligue 2.

The top three clubs in Ligue 1 will qualify automatically for next season’s Champions League, while the final European qualification place remains fiercely contested heading into the final round of fixtures.

Lille, Lyon and Rennes Battle for European Places

Lille OSC strengthened their hold on third place after grinding out a 1-0 victory away to AS Monaco, courtesy of a late own goal from Monaco captain Denis Zakaria.

The result moved Lille one point clear of Olympique Lyonnais, who suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Toulouse FC.

Stade Rennais FC remain firmly in contention after fighting back to defeat Paris FC 2-1.

Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul scored his 20th league goal of the season to maintain his position as the division’s leading scorer.

Relegation Battle Intensifies

At the bottom of the table, AJ Auxerre climbed out of the relegation play-off position after a vital 2-1 win over OGC Nice.

Lassine Sinayoko netted the decisive goal midway through the second half, leaving Nice in 16th place due to an inferior goal difference.

Nice may still feel optimistic heading into the final round, however, as they host bottom-placed FC Metz, while Auxerre face a difficult away trip to Lille.

Le Havre AC also remain under pressure after slipping dangerously close to the relegation zone. They sit only one point above Nice and Auxerre ahead of a challenging trip to FC Lorient.

Marseille Continue Chaotic Campaign

Olympique de Marseille climbed into sixth place following a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Le Havre.

Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood converted the winning penalty during the second half.

Veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was absent from the Marseille squad amid reports surrounding an alleged prank involving club sports coordinator Bob Tahri.

Marseille’s turbulent campaign has been marked by off-field drama, including the departures of Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe earlier in the season following reports of a dressing-room altercation.

Despite the instability, Marseille still retain hopes of finishing fifth when they face Rennes next weekend in a significant encounter for both clubs.

Angers Secure Ligue 1 Safety

Elsewhere, Angers SCO guaranteed their Ligue 1 survival after drawing 1-1 at home against RC Strasbourg Alsace.
