Chelsea FC have no intention of selling João Pedro during the upcoming summer transfer window, despite reported interest from FC Barcelona.

Barcelona are understood to be prioritising a move for Julián Álvarez as their primary attacking target, with Robert Lewandowski approaching the end of his current contract. However, negotiations with Atlético Madrid are expected to prove difficult, as Álvarez remains tied to a long-term deal that includes a €500 million (£431 million) release clause.

As a result, Barcelona have begun exploring alternative options, with João Pedro emerging as a potential candidate. Reports indicate that informal discussions have already taken place regarding the Brazil international.

The proposed move has reportedly received backing from Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco.

However, Chelsea have made their position clear through intermediaries, signalling that João Pedro is not for sale. The club are understood to be reluctant to sanction a departure given the challenges associated with securing a suitable replacement.

The forward joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth approximately £60 million last year and has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, scoring 19 goals across all competitions.

João Pedro could yet add further silverware to his achievements this season. Following Chelsea’s success in the FIFA Club World Cup, the club are set to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on 16 May.
