AFC Bournemouth have confirmed that defender Álex Jiménez has been left out of the squad for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Fulham following the launch of an internal investigation linked to social media activity.

The development comes after alleged online exchanges surfaced involving Jiménez and an individual who reportedly claimed to be a 15-year-old girl.

Club Launches Investigation

In an official statement released on Friday, Bournemouth acknowledged awareness of the posts circulating online and confirmed the matter is currently under review.

“AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back Álex Jiménez,” the club stated.

“The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated. As a result, Álex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League match against Fulham.

“The club will be making no further comment at this time.”

The decision to omit the player comes amid growing public attention surrounding the allegations, although no formal charges or findings have been announced at this stage.

Iraola Responds to Situation

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola also addressed the matter during his pre-match press conference, stressing that the club must first establish the facts before drawing conclusions.

“The club has to carry out its investigations and understand exactly what has happened,” Iraola said.

“After that, we will move forward accordingly. I hope the situation is not what many people fear.”

Jiménez Recently Joined Permanently

Jiménez, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday, joined Bournemouth permanently from AC Milan earlier this year in a reported £17 million deal following a successful loan spell.

The Spanish defender signed a long-term contract running for five-and-a-half years and has been a regular figure in Bournemouth’s squad this season, making 32 appearances across all competitions.

Prior to his move to Italy in 2024, Jiménez spent a decade within the youth system of Real Madrid.

At the time of publication, representatives for Jiménez had not publicly commented on the allegations or Bournemouth’s decision.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the club have indicated that no additional statements will be made until further information becomes available.
