FEMI FALANA SUES META FOR $5M OVER PRIVACY VIOLATION | NIGERIA POLICE DENIES SARS REINSTATEMENT

Renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has taken legal action against Meta Platforms Inc., filing a $5 million lawsuit over the unauthorized use of his name, image, and voice in a deceptive health product advertisement. The misleading ad, allegedly posted by "AfriCare Health Centre" on Facebook, falsely claimed that Falana had been battling prostatitis for 16 years, prompting the senior advocate to seek redress in court.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has officially dismissed rumors suggesting the reinstatement of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Authorities have reaffirmed that SARS was permanently disbanded on October 11, 2020, following widespread protests and will not be revived.

In a political development, the Supreme Court has ruled against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara in his appeal challenging the leadership of the state House of Assembly under Speaker Martin Amaewhule. This decision solidifies the current legislative leadership in the state, marking a significant moment in Rivers State politics.
