Multiple People Wounded In Sword Attack At Swedish School In Fagersta
A person armed with a sword has wounded multiple people at a secondary school in Fagersta, central Sweden, police said Friday.
Officers were called to Brinellskola at around 2 p.m. local time after reports of an attack. One person was taken into custody.

POLICE LAUNCH MAJOR RESPONSE
Several police units, ambulances and a police helicopter were deployed to the school as authorities secured the area.
Police urged residents and parents to respect roadblocks and follow instructions from officers while the investigation continued.
Other schools in the surrounding area were reportedly placed under lockdown as a precaution.
Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer said the government was closely monitoring the situation and remained in contact with police.
PREVIOUS SCHOOL ATTACKS RAISE CONCERN
The Fagersta incident comes after a series of serious attacks at educational institutions in Sweden in recent years, raising renewed concerns about school safety.
In February 2025, a 35-year-old gunman attacked an adult education centre in Örebro, killing 10 people before the incident was brought under control. The attack was described as Sweden's deadliest mass shooting.
The country also experienced a deadly school stabbing in Malmö in March 2022, when an 18-year-old student fatally attacked two teachers at a high school.
These incidents have prompted increased attention to security measures at schools and other educational facilities across Sweden.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
Authorities are now working to establish what led to the latest attack in Fagersta, including the suspect's motive and how the weapon was brought onto the school premises.
Police have not yet released the suspect's identity or provided details about possible charges.
As the investigation continues, officials are expected to provide further information about the victims and the circumstances surrounding the attack.
