Former Liverpool FC full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has shared a brief message after making his return from injury, declaring it is “good to be back”.
Trent Alexander-Arnold Sends Four-Word Message After Real Madrid Injury Return
The England international was restored to Real Madrid’s starting line-up for the first time since early December following his recovery from a muscle problem. The 27-year-old had featured off the bench in last weekend’s La Liga victory over Valencia CF, as Los Blancos secured a 2–0 win, before returning to the XI against Real Sociedad less than a week later.
It took Alexander-Arnold just five minutes to make an impact, providing a trademark assist for Gonzalo García to open the scoring. Further goals from Vinícius Júnior, who struck twice, and Federico Valverde completed a 4–1 victory for the Spanish giants.
The defender was substituted after 60 minutes as he continues to build match fitness.
‘Good to Be Back’
Following the match, the former Liverpool vice-captain took to social media to mark his return. Posting images from the game on Instagram, he wrote: “Good to be back”, accompanied by a white heart emoji.
Alexander-Arnold’s first season at the Santiago Bernabéu has been disrupted by fitness setbacks following his summer move from Liverpool. As a result, Real Madrid supporters have only sporadically witnessed the level of performance that made him one of the Premier League’s standout full-backs during his time at Anfield.
He will hope that his latest assist signals the beginning of a sustained run in the side, and head coach Álvaro Arbeloa expressed confidence in his influence.
Speaking after the victory, Arbeloa said:
“Working with Alexander-Arnold, he strikes me as a very intelligent player who understands the game very well and quickly grasps what we want from him.
“He’s not the typical full-back who is always going to be out wide. He can also play centrally.
“We want players to be able to interchange positions. We’re fortunate to have a player like that.”
Real Madrid return to action on Tuesday with a Champions League play-off first-leg clash against Benfica. The return fixture follows just over a week later as they aim to secure a place in the knockout stages of the competition.
