New Everton signing Thierno Barry says he is relishing the opportunity to play in front of the club’s passionate supporters, describing the fanbase as “crazy people” he can’t wait to perform for.

The France Under-21 international completed a £27.5 million move from Villarreal to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Wednesday, becoming Everton’s second summer signing following the permanent arrival of Charly Alcaraz.

Barry, who has signed a four-year contract, arrives after an impressive debut season in La Liga and is set to be a key figure in manager David Moyes’ revamped squad.

“I’m very happy,” said Barry upon signing.
“It’s very exciting to be here. I just can’t wait to start and I hope to start very quickly.

“I had good conversations with the manager. He told me I have the quality to play in the Premier League. He wants to do good work with me.

“He wants to help me on my road, and I felt the sincerity with him — that’s why I chose to come here as well.

“I think the fans here are, like, crazy people… I like this! I like to score for these people. I just want to play here, score and enjoy it with the fans.”

The 6ft 4in forward, known for his physical presence and direct attacking style, also offered fans a glimpse of what to expect from him on the pitch:

“On the pitch, I always give 100 per cent. I always want to score. I always want to help the team to win — this is my character.

“For me, this is my meal, my food. When I score, I’m very happy. I will always give 100 per cent and try to score goals.”

Barry also expressed enthusiasm about the club’s future, citing recent developments as a sign of renewed ambition:

“When the manager came last season, I think he changed the team a bit.

“With this and the new stadium, I think the club comes with a new ambition — so I want to play my part in that.”

Moyes Targets More Signings Before Season Opener
Speaking after Barry’s unveiling, manager David Moyes expressed his satisfaction with the signing and indicated the club were working on further additions before their Premier League opener against Leeds United on 18 August.

“We are delighted to have brought Thierno to the club,” Moyes said.
“We see lots of potential, and we are hoping for good things from him.

“We will give him plenty of time to settle in, and we’re looking forward to getting started working with him as soon as possible.

“I’m hoping to make more additions in the coming weeks.”
