Rafa Nadal Backs Florentino Pérez Following Real Madrid Presidential Election
Speaking during the Battle of the Stars charity golf tournament, the lifelong Real Madrid supporter was asked for his thoughts after Pérez secured another term as club president.
Nadal praised both candidates involved in the election and highlighted the democratic process before offering strong backing for Pérez’s continued leadership.
“The members have voted, both were good candidates, this is democracy and the one who won has won.
“Florentino is the best president in the history of Real Madrid, his mission is not yet finished and Enrique Riquelme will have time.”
Pérez has presided over one of the most successful periods in Real Madrid’s history across his various terms in office.
Under his leadership, the club has secured numerous domestic and European honours while strengthening its commercial position and reinforcing its status among world football’s most influential institutions.
Nadal Reflects on the Future of Real Madrid Leadership
Despite his support for Pérez, Nadal also acknowledged that every era eventually comes to an end and suggested that future leadership succession is inevitable.
The former tennis star noted that longevity in football administration brings challenges and that transition will eventually become necessary.
“Some things have their time.
“Florentino has been president for 26 years, and time takes its toll on everyone.
“Florentino will have to stop.
“Today is today, tomorrow will be tomorrow, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
“Life evolves, and making predictions years in advance always seems very risky to me.”
Pérez Continues at a Key Moment for the Club
Pérez’s latest election victory arrives during an important period for Real Madrid as the club prepares for another phase of sporting and structural development.
Attention has already shifted towards upcoming decisions involving management, squad planning and long-term strategy as Madrid aim to maintain their position at the top of European football.
For Nadal, however, the message was clear — while change will eventually come, he believes Pérez still has more to offer before that moment arrives.
