Manchester City have confirmed that Brazilian winger Savinho has signed a new long-term contract with the club, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.

The 21-year-old has made six appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring once in the Carabao Cup. Savinho joined City in 2024 following a standout loan spell with Girona in La Liga.

“I am incredibly proud to sign this new contract with City. It’s a very special feeling to know that Pep and the club have placed such faith in me—it means a great deal to me and my family,” Savinho said in the club’s announcement.
“I know I still have a lot to improve—I’m young and very hungry to keep learning. Working with Pep and his staff will help me to continue developing as a player.”

Tottenham Interest Fails to Materialise

Tottenham Hotspur made a formal approach for Savinho during the summer transfer window. Although City were reportedly open to selling for around €50 million (£43.3 million), according to The Athletic, the move never materialised.

Savinho was originally signed by French side ESTAC Troyes, part of the City Football Group, before loan spells with PSV and Girona—the latter also within the CFG network. His breakthrough came during the 2023–24 campaign, when he netted 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 41 appearances, helping Girona secure a historic Champions League qualification.

Following his impressive season in Spain, Savinho completed his move to Manchester City, making 48 appearances under Pep Guardiola in his debut campaign, scoring three goals and registering 13 assists.

“His numbers last season were excellent—he created a lot and contributed heavily in the final third,” Guardiola said.
“Once he continues to time his runs and movements correctly, he’ll be a top-class player. He’s young, talented, and improving all the time—Savinho will be a top player for Manchester City.”

Despite Guardiola’s praise, Savinho was recently left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil national team squad for October’s international fixtures.
