China extended their flawless run at the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu on Thursday, defeating France 8–2 to register their sixth straight victory in the tournament. The event is being staged in the south-western city of Chengdu, located in Sichuan Province.

The world’s top-ranked mixed doubles pair, Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, opened the encounter with a confident display, overcoming Alexis Lebrun and Jia Nan Yuan 11–7, 12–10, 11–5 to hand the hosts an early 3–0 advantage.

China’s lead grew even stronger as Wang Manyu delivered a commanding performance in the women’s singles, sweeping past Prithika Pavade 11–9, 12–10, 11–2.

“In challenging moments, it’s important for us to remain composed and patient as we push forward,” Wang Manyu reflected after the match.

France managed to interrupt China’s winning momentum when Felix Lebrun rallied to defeat Liang Jingkun 6–11, 13–11, 11–7 in the men’s singles, narrowing the margin to 7–2 and keeping French hopes briefly alive.

However, the Lebrun brothers were unable to prolong their team’s campaign in the decisive men’s doubles. Facing Wang Chuqin and Lin Shidong in a must-win contest, the French duo were edged out 11–8, sealing China’s comprehensive triumph.

The round-robin second stage continues on Friday. China are set to face Germany, while the Republic of Korea take on Japan in another highly anticipated fixture.
