Celtic are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Shin Yamada from Kawasaki Frontale, with the deal said to be effectively done pending the striker’s international commitments.

According to Japanese outlet Sports Hochi, the 25-year-old forward has agreed terms with the Scottish champions and will officially sign once his national team duties with Japan are concluded.

Japan's final fixture in the E-1 Football Championship is against South Korea on 15 July, after which Yamada is expected to finalise the move.

Celtic are believed to be paying a fee in the region of £1.5 million for the striker, who will become the latest Japanese player to join the Glasgow club, following the successful paths of Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate.

Rodgers Strengthening in Attack
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been eager to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.

The club recently secured the signing of promising young forward Callum Osmand from Fulham for development purposes and are reportedly interested in Michel-Ange Balikwisha, following the departure of Nicolas Kühn to Como.

Yamada’s arrival would further enhance Celtic’s attacking depth as Rodgers looks to reinforce key areas of the squad in preparation for their title defence and upcoming Champions League campaign.
