Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has completed a season-long loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The 29-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Inter Milan in 2023 for an initial €51 million, with a further €4 million in potential add-ons.

However, a series of high-profile errors placed the Cameroon international under pressure during his debut season, despite finishing the campaign with an FA Cup winners’ medal. Difficulties continued under new manager Rúben Amorim last term.

A hamstring injury ruled him out of United’s pre-season preparations, and his first competitive outing of the current campaign saw him commit a mistake in a shock Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby.

Onana’s prospects at United appeared increasingly uncertain following the club’s deadline-day signing of Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens for €21 million plus add-ons.

In a brief statement, United confirmed:
“Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration. The move has been completed ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday. We would like to wish André good luck.”

Following the international break, United resume their Premier League campaign with a derby clash away to Manchester City on Sunday.
