Liverpool have reportedly identified Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Olise as their primary target to replace Mohamed Salah, as the Egyptian forward prepares to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Salah is understood to have decided to bring an end to his remarkable nine-year spell with the Merseyside club and is set to depart on a free transfer this summer. His impending exit has prompted Liverpool to intensify their search for a suitable successor to one of the club’s greatest-ever players.

According to reports from France, Olise has emerged as the leading candidate on Liverpool’s shortlist. The 24-year-old has attracted significant interest across Europe, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain also identifying him as a priority signing ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Despite the growing interest, Bayern Munich are reportedly unwilling to part ways with the midfielder this summer. The Bundesliga giants are in a strong negotiating position, with Olise still having three years remaining on his current contract.

Olise joined Bayern in a deal worth £50 million from Crystal Palace in 2024 and has since developed into a key figure under manager Vincent Kompany. He has enjoyed an outstanding campaign, registering 16 goals and 27 assists across all competitions, while helping Bayern remain in contention for four trophies.

Liverpool are also exploring alternative options as they prepare for a significant attacking reshuffle. RB Leipzig’s highly-rated 19-year-old winger Yan Diomande has been identified as a potential target.
