Leeds United were left aggrieved following their narrow FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea at Wembley, with players questioning aspects of the opposition’s conduct during the closing stages of the match.

Missed Opportunities Prove Costly

Despite their complaints, Leeds will recognise that missed chances ultimately proved decisive. Struijk himself was involved in the build-up to Chelsea’s goal after surrendering possession in the first half, allowing Fernández to capitalise.

Leeds created several promising opportunities throughout the match, with Brenden Aaronson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ao Tanaka all going close, but they were unable to find a breakthrough.

Chelsea, by contrast, managed the latter stages effectively, seeing out the game with relative composure.

Although the defeat represents a missed opportunity on a significant occasion, Leeds can take encouragement from their overall FA Cup campaign, which provided supporters with a number of memorable moments.
