Jordon Ibe Due in Court Following Airport Arrest
The 30-year-old was taken into custody by police in relation to an alleged assault said to have occurred on 14 December. According to the Metropolitan Police, Ibe has been charged with actual bodily harm.
Ibe, who is from Chislehurst in south-east London, was arrested at Luton Airport on 30 January after landing in the UK. He was subsequently released on bail and is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on 6 March.
Separate Court Appearance
The former Liverpool FC and AFC Bournemouth winger had travelled back to the UK to attend court in connection with a separate matter.
He previously admitted to using fraudulent prescriptions to obtain the insomnia medication Zolpidem. Appearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, he was fined £230.
Career Overview
Ibe began his professional career at Wycombe Wanderers, attracting attention as a promising youngster before Liverpool signed him at the age of 16 for an undisclosed fee.
He went on to make 58 appearances for Liverpool, including 41 in the Premier League, before completing a £15 million move to Bournemouth in 2016 to work under manager Eddie Howe.
Ibe signed a four-year contract on the south coast, which included a buy-back option and sell-on clause for Liverpool. However, he struggled for consistency and fell out of favour during his first season. The contractual clauses were never activated, and he departed Bournemouth upon the expiry of his deal, having made 92 appearances for the club.
Since leaving Bournemouth, Ibe has represented seven different clubs. His career has included a spell with Championship side Derby County, four English non-league teams, and a move to Turkey.
He is currently playing in Bulgaria for Lokomotiv Sofia.
