Joel Mvuka has expressed his delight after completing a loan move to Celtic, following a late medical scare on deadline day.

The Lorient winger emerged as one of Celtic manager Martin O’Neill’s key targets alongside Junior Adamu. Mvuka, primarily a right-winger, joins the club with ambitions of breaking into the Norway squad ahead of the World Cup this summer.

The move was initially intended as a £3 million permanent transfer, but concerns raised during his medical at Lorient threatened to derail the deal. Celtic subsequently renegotiated, securing a loan with an option to buy in the summer.

Mvuka, who had struggled to settle back at Lorient following two successful loan spells at Bodo/Glimt, is confident he can make an immediate impact in Glasgow.

“It feels really good to finally be here,” Mvuka said. “I remember playing at Celtic Park and hearing the fans sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’—I thought, ‘Wow!’ I also played alongside Sebastian Tounekti at Bodo/Glimt, so I’m excited to see him again. I’m a fast winger, capable of playing on either flank, and I enjoy being on the ball. I can’t wait to get started.”

O’Neill optimistic about Mvuka’s contribution

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill praised the Norwegian’s versatility and experience. “Joel is a talented player who has gained valuable experience at some very good clubs,” O’Neill said. “He provides the squad with another option, is very quick, and can operate on both wings. I am confident he will make a positive contribution to the team. Joel is very excited to join Celtic, and we are hoping he can make a significant impact.”
