Five members of England’s victorious UEFA Euro 2025 squad have been nominated for this year’s Women’s Ballon d’Or, including three Arsenal stars who celebrated a remarkable double of European titles at both club and international level.

Leah Williamson, Alessia Russo, and Chloe Kelly—key figures for both Arsenal and the Lionesses—featured prominently in their respective Champions League and European Championship triumphs. They are joined on the prestigious shortlist by Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton, both of whom secured domestic trebles with Chelsea and played pivotal roles in England’s back-to-back European title success, capped by last month’s win over Spain in Basel.

In the Men’s Ballon d’Or category, four English players have made the list: Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Cole Palmer, and Declan Rice. They are accompanied by Scotland’s Scott McTominay, whose outstanding performances were instrumental in Napoli’s Serie A title-winning campaign. Arsenal and England full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly has also earned a place on the shortlist for the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best young male player.

Lionesses head coach Sarina Wiegman has been nominated for the Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy, recognising the best coach. She is joined by Arsenal’s Renée Slegers and Chelsea’s Sonia Bompastor. Nigeria’s Justine Madugu and Brazil’s Arthur Elias have also received nods, following successful continental campaigns with their respective national sides.

Teenage striker Michelle Agyemang, aged 19, is among the nominees for the Kopa Trophy as well. Her dramatic late equalisers during the knockout stages of Euro 2025 were crucial in England’s path to the final. Chelsea’s Wieke Kaptein is also included on the five-player shortlist.

Hannah Hampton’s heroics in the Euro 2025 final—where she saved two penalties—have earned her a nomination for the Yashin Trophy, which honours the best goalkeeper. She is joined by Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar.

Arsenal dominate the Women’s Ballon d’Or nominees, with seven players making the list following their Champions League final triumph over Barcelona in Lisbon. Alongside Williamson, Russo, and Kelly are Spain’s Mariona Caldentey, Australia’s Steph Catley, the USA’s Emily Fox, and Norway’s Frida Maanum. Chelsea are also well represented through Sandy Baltimore and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, while Scotland and Real Madrid midfielder Caroline Weir features, as do Brazil’s Marta and last year’s winner, Aitana Bonmatí of Spain.

As anticipated, the Men’s Ballon d’Or shortlist features global superstars such as Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah, and Vinícius Júnior. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Arsenal’s new signing Viktor Gyökeres also make the cut. Arne Slot and Enzo Maresca are among the five nominees for the Men’s Coach of the Year award.

In the club categories, Chelsea and Liverpool are shortlisted for Men’s Club of the Year, while Arsenal and Chelsea are nominated for the Women’s Club of the Year award.
