FIFA Introduces Higher-Priced Ticket Tiers for 2026 World Cup
The additional “front category” tickets were quietly added to the sales platform, including for the tournament opener between the United States and Paraguay in Inglewood, California on 12 June. Previously, the highest listed price for category 1 seats was $2,735 before the introduction of the upgraded tier.
Further pricing adjustments show front category 2 tickets for the same match ranging between $1,940 and $2,330, marking a significant increase in top-end matchday costs. Similar premium pricing has also been applied to other fixtures, including Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto, where top tickets reportedly reach $3,360.
For knockout-stage matches, including the round of 16, ticket prices have also risen, with some seats listed at around $905. The final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey has seen the most notable increases, with top-tier tickets rising to nearly $10,990 following earlier sales phases.
2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from 11 June to 19 July, across 16 cities.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has previously stated that all 104 matches are expected to sell out, despite growing criticism over rising ticket costs. A “supporters’ tier” was earlier introduced in response to public backlash over pricing.
The latest adjustments are expected to further fuel debate over accessibility and affordability for fans attending the expanded tournament.
