AFC Bournemouth have confirmed the appointment of Marco Rose as their new head coach on a three-year contract, with the German set to take over following the departure of Andoni Iraola at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The south coast club recently announced that Iraola would not be extending his stay at the Vitality Stadium, with the Spaniard now attracting interest from several top clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool.

Rose, 49, returns to management after more than a year out of the game following his departure from RB Leipzig in March 2025. The appointment will mark his first managerial role in English football.

Club Statement Confirms Appointment

In an official statement, Bournemouth said:

“AFC Bournemouth is delighted to confirm the appointment of Marco Rose as the club’s new head coach on a three-year contract, commencing at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

Marco arrives with extensive experience at the highest level of European football, having previously managed Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

Our immediate focus remains on finishing the current campaign strongly, with the players and staff fully committed to maintaining positive results and building on the current 13-match unbeaten run.

Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Marco to the Vitality Stadium this summer.”

Proven Track Record in Europe

Rose began his managerial career at Lokomotive Leipzig in 2012 before rising to prominence in European football. During his time with Salzburg, he secured two Austrian Bundesliga titles and lifted the Austrian Cup.

He later added further silverware to his résumé with Leipzig, winning both the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Supercup, underlining his pedigree at elite level.

Bright Prospects for Bournemouth

The Cherries could provide Rose with an immediate opportunity to compete on the European stage. Currently sitting eighth in the Premier League table, Bournemouth remain firmly in contention for continental qualification.

They are level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea ahead of their upcoming fixture against Leeds United.

With momentum on their side and a strong finish to the season within reach, Bournemouth’s future under Rose appears promising as the club prepares for a new era.
