Harriet Cowan, star of Clarkson’s Farm, was rushed to hospital after severing the tip of her finger in an accident involving a log splitter.
Harriet Cowan Rushed to Hospital After Log Splitter Accident
Cowan, who appeared on the show last year, shared the incident with her social media followers on Friday (13 February), explaining that the mishap had occurred on Monday (9 February) and that doctors were able to successfully reattach the finger.
“Sorry I’ve been quiet! Been a crappy week. Had a run in with a log splitter, chopped the end of my finger off, but a quick surgery they stitched it back on!!” she wrote.
Joining the Farm Team
Cowan was introduced in the latest season of the series, which follows the daily operations at Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddy Squat farm, as a temporary replacement for farm manager Kaleb Cooper, who was unavailable due to other professional commitments.
A former full-time nurse, Cowan quickly impressed viewers with her wit and farming knowledge, though Cooper initially appeared sceptical of her skills upon returning to the Oxfordshire farm. Clarkson intervened, urging him to “be nice – behave” while observing Cowan at work.
Despite the initial tension, Cowan confirmed that she and Cooper have since developed a friendly relationship off-camera. Speaking to BBC Derby, she said:
“Kaleb’s amazing. Me and him are so close now. He’s such a good farmer and we got on really well. He’s another farmer to add to my phone list to ring. Everyone checks in to make sure everyone’s fine.”
Rising Popularity
Cowan’s debut on the show showcased her sharp humour and farming expertise. In the first episode of the season, she playfully teased Clarkson about his age and even attempted to trim his eyebrows, earning praise from Clarkson and farming contractor Charlie Ireland, who described her as “brilliant” and a “star.”
A graduate of the University of Derby, where she studied nursing, Cowan had served as her town’s Young Farmers spokesperson. She uses her social media platforms, including TikTok, to highlight the realities of farming and has been active in farmers’ protests responding to Labour’s inheritance tax changes.
Since gaining fame through Clarkson’s Farm, Cowan left her nursing career to pursue opportunities in broadcasting, including a presenting role alongside comedian Jessica Knappett on Channel 4’s Tiny Farmers.
Fans have expressed hope that Cowan will become a permanent member of the team at the Chipping Norton farm, as she continues to win over audiences with her expertise and personality.
