Singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to all charges relating to an alleged bottle attack at a Mayfair nightclub in London.

The 36-year-old American musician appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, 11th July, for a scheduled plea hearing ahead of his trial set for later next year.

Brown stands accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident at Tape nightclub in February 2023. He has consistently denied the charge and formally entered his plea in court last month, responding: “Not guilty, ma’am.”

Additional Charges Denied
Alongside Brown in the dock was Omololu Akinlolu, 38, who also denied the charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

Both defendants face additional charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH). Brown is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon—namely, a bottle—in a public place.

On Friday, Brown entered not guilty pleas for these two further charges as well.

Court Appearance and Case Details
The singer, known for hits such as “Run It!” and “With You”, arrived at Southwark Crown Court shortly before 9am, dressed in a brown checked double-breasted suit, paired with a red tie and oversized black-rimmed sunglasses. He kept his head down as he passed awaiting photographers, briefly raising a hand in acknowledgment.

News of his pleas emerged nearly two hours later.

The alleged victim, music producer Abraham Diaw, claims he was struck multiple times with a bottle while standing at the bar inside the venue, and then pursued to another section where he was punched and kicked.

Brown was reportedly staying at The Lowry Hotel, a five-star establishment in Manchester, at the time of his arrest on 15th May. A week later, it was disclosed in court that Brown had been released from HMP Forest Bank in Salford, Greater Manchester, under strict bail conditions.

A security fee of £5 million was paid as a financial guarantee to ensure his return to court. The sum may be forfeited should bail conditions be breached.

Brown Speaks Out During UK Tour
During a June performance at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, part of his Breezy Bowl XX tour, Brown made a brief reference to his legal situation.

“I just want to tell you all, I love you all to death, I am so thankful that I could come out here tonight.
Thank you all for having me and supporting me, and thank you to the jail, y’all was really nice,” he told fans.

Trial Date Confirmed
A full trial has now been scheduled to begin on 26th October 2026, and is expected to last between five to seven days.
