Manchester United have learned the 'exit fee' for Sporting Lisbon's manager, Ruben Amorim, and are prepared to activate his €10 million (£8.3 million) release clause, according to the Portuguese club.
Manchester United Informed of 'Exit Fee' for Ruben Amorim as Sporting Lisbon Issues Statement

The Red Devils bid farewell to Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag on Monday (29 October) and informed fans of the development. It now appears that the English club is set to appoint 39-year-old Amorim as Ten Hag's successor.
"Manchester United have expressed their interest in recruiting coach Ruben Amorim and have stated that they are ready to pay the €10 million release clause," Sporting said in a statement to the Lisbon stock exchange on Tuesday.
United's announcement regarding Ten Hag’s departure read: "We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future. Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching staff, while a permanent head coach is appointed."
Should Amorim secure the role at Old Trafford, he would become the tenth manager to take charge since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. The likes of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and the recently dismissed Ten Hag have all managed the club at various points.
Former United stars Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick, and Van Nistelrooy have also assumed control on a temporary basis, with Ralf Rangnick stepping in prior to Ten Hag's tenure.
Brighton's head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, shared his thoughts on Amorim during a press briefing: "At 39, he is eight years older than me. He has already achieved great things in Portugal, and I’ve watched some of his matches; he plays incredible football.
"It is very dominant in possession. I’m not in a position to offer him advice. If he needs guidance, he might reach out to Pep or Jurgen Klopp or coaches of that calibre.
"I'm also in a learning process myself. I aim to give my best. Let’s see what unfolds in Manchester. It’s always exciting to face new coaches, to compete with them, and this will present another challenge."
