It also addresses cases of examination misconduct and misinformation, reaffirming the Board's commitment to upholding integrity and tightening result verification

The Joint and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released an additional 531 results of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), bringing the total number of results released to 1,842,897.

As pledged, the Board has proceeded with the screening of over 64,000 withheld results. Additionally, during this process, further instances of examination misconduct were uncovered, increasing the tally from 81 to 92.

According to a press statement by JAMB Public Communication Advisor (PCA), Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on Tuesday, the Board stated it was also investigating cases of unverified candidates and would soon formulate a stance.

Moreover, the Board's attention was drawn to some erroneous publications, claiming that an unidentified candidate, who did not participate in the Board’s 2024 UTME, received scores. It labelled these reports as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to undermine the Board's integrity, urging the public to disregard such irresponsible publications.

“To underscore the fact that the publication is crafted by mischief-makers to cast the Board in a negative light, the publication, which levels such a serious allegation, lacks details of the candidate for proper verification.

“The Board is not surprised as this is the season of mischief-makers, who would want to deceive gullible candidates. The examination template of the Board is designed with the highest sense of responsibility and is not an allocation platform where scores are doled out to candidates. It is most unfortunate that anybody could even believe such a narrative or that the story could gain traction given the Board’s integrity.

“This again has gone further to vindicate the Board’s stance that candidates should refrain from disclosing their classified details to third parties.

“In investigating some of these allegations, the Board discovered that some of these mischief-makers copy results sent to other candidates, edit the details sent to themselves and then parade this as emanating from the Board,” the statement added.

The Board further challenges any candidate, parent, or anyone with such a claim or information to prove it wrong by coming forward with the details of such claims and the phone number with which such results were conveyed.

“The attitude of these mischief-makers would only compel the Board to further tighten the process of checking its results to make it more personalised and ensure it is stringent when it should actually be a simple and straightforward exercise,” he stated.

Consequently, the Board said it was ready to add more features like registration number to the existing UTME Result checking process going forward to make it extra difficult for anybody to edit.

Candidates were, therefore, urged to keep their details secure, for if they are found associating with any of these mischievous elements, they would be treated as collaborators.

For now, it noted that the method of checking the 2024 UTME remains sending ‘UTMERESULT’ to 55019 or 66019 and not through any other process, while reiterating that the result, at the moment, was not available on the Board’s website.
