WIFE INJURED IN THE BLAST

The officer's wife was also inside the vehicle when the explosion occurred and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Local reports said the blast happened shortly after the vehicle was started. However, investigators have not yet publicly established what caused the explosion. Russian authorities were examining the scene as part of the criminal investigation.
No individual or organisation has claimed responsibility for the incident, and there was no immediate official accusation against Ukraine.

On August 5, the director of a factory supplying drones to the Russian military was seriously wounded when his vehicle exploded near Yekaterinburg. His driver was killed in that incident.
Russia has also reported other attacks targeting senior military figures. On August 13, a Russian military officer was killed in a bombing in Crimea, with a woman later arrested on suspicion of carrying out the assassination on behalf of Ukrainian special services, according to Russian authorities.
One of the most prominent previous cases occurred in December 2024, when Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov was killed in a bomb attack in Moscow. Ukraine's security service was subsequently reported to have claimed responsibility.
