Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran remains open to dialogue with the United States despite what he describes as three attacks during negotiations. Meanwhile, Iranian security forces reportedly killed six suspected militants near Tehran, while Gaza held another mass funeral following the recovery of more than 100 bodies. Saudi Arabia has also vowed to protect its security amid attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthis.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran has never rejected dialogue with the United States, despite what he described as three attacks carried out against Iran while negotiations were taking place.
Pezeshkian’s comments come amid heightened tensions between the two countries, with military confrontation, diplomatic efforts and security operations continuing to shape developments across the Middle East.

PEZESHKIAN SAYS IRAN HAS NOT REJECTED TALKS

Pezeshkian said Iran remained open to dialogue with Washington, despite the attacks that he said occurred during previous negotiations.
His comments underline the continuing tension between Iran’s stated willingness to engage diplomatically and the deterioration of relations between Tehran and Washington.
The Iranian government has repeatedly maintained that diplomatic channels remain possible, while insisting that Iran’s security and national interests must be protected.

SIX SUSPECTED MILITANTS KILLED NEAR TEHRAN

Meanwhile, Iranian security forces have killed six people whom the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps described as members of a “terrorist group”.
The IRGC said the suspects were allegedly preparing to carry out a bomb attack in Manjilabad, near the capital, Tehran.
Iranian authorities said the security operation prevented the alleged attack from taking place.
Details about the identity of the group and the evidence against the six people were not immediately made public.

GAZA HOLDS ANOTHER MASS FUNERAL

In Gaza, mourners have held another mass funeral after the remains of more than 100 Palestinians were recovered from the rubble of buildings destroyed during the prolonged war.
The recovery of the bodies has added to the enormous human cost of the conflict, as families continue to search for and identify relatives who were killed in destroyed homes and other buildings.
The latest funeral comes amid continuing efforts to recover remains from areas heavily affected by the fighting.

SAUDI ARABIA VOWS TO PROTECT ITS SECURITY

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has meanwhile said the kingdom will not compromise on its security in the face of attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement.
Saudi Arabia has faced security concerns linked to the conflict in neighbouring Yemen, where the Houthi movement has carried out attacks and launched missiles and drones towards targets in the region.
The Saudi position reflects the broader security concerns facing countries across the Middle East as tensions involving Iran, Yemen and other regional actors continue.

MIDDLE EAST REMAINS ON HIGH ALERT

The developments come against a backdrop of overlapping conflicts and diplomatic tensions across the region.
Iran’s willingness to discuss issues with Washington, the reported security operation near Tehran, the continuing humanitarian consequences in Gaza and Saudi Arabia’s concerns over attacks from Yemen all demonstrate the complexity of the current regional crisis.
Diplomatic efforts remain possible, but the continuing military and security developments have made the situation highly volatile.
