Sulemana Abdul Samed, popularly known as Awuche and widely regarded as Ghana's tallest person, has died at the age of 32 while receiving treatment at Tamale Teaching Hospital. Standing at about 7 feet 4 inches, he lived with acromegaly, a rare hormonal disorder that caused excessive growth and contributed to mobility and recurring health problems. Standing at approximately 7 feet 4 inches tall, Awuche faced serious health and mobility challenges throughout his life.
He had been diagnosed with acromegaly, a rare hormonal disorder that occurs when the body produces excessive growth hormone in adulthood. The condition can cause abnormal enlargement of the hands, feet and facial features.
His condition reportedly contributed to recurring health problems and frequent hospital visits.
In 2022, a public appeal was made to help raise funds to cover his medical expenses as his health challenges continued.

Despite the difficulties associated with his condition, Awuche lived a relatively ordinary life in northern Ghana.
He attended school in the region before later working as a mechanic.
