A Norwegian court has sentenced Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, to four years in prison after finding him guilty of two rape charges, as well as domestic violence, threats, and traffic offences. He was acquitted of two other rape counts. Høiby denied the charges and plans to appeal. The trial, which lasted seven weeks, drew widespread attention due to his royal connection and the serious nature of the allegations.

Norway is a country located in Northern Europe, in the Scandinavian region. It lies on the western and northern edge of the Scandinavian Peninsula, with a long coastline along the North Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. It shares land borders with Sweden to the east, Finland to the northeast, and Russia in the far northeast. The country is known for its mountainous terrain, deep coastal fjords, cold climate in the north, and relatively milder conditions in the south due to ocean influences.
Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway, and it serves as the political, economic, and administrative centre of the country. Norway is a developed nation with a high standard of living and is known for its strong social welfare system, rich natural resources—especially oil and gas—and its stable constitutional monarchy.
In terms of governance, Norway operates as a constitutional monarchy, meaning it has a royal family, but real political power lies with an elected parliament and government. This is why news involving members of the royal family, such as court cases or public controversies, often receives significant attention both nationally and internationally.
