However, Niger's military has not officially commented on the reports.

The FLA and its Al Qaeda-linked allies previously attacked military positions, including Bamako's airport, and were also linked to the killing of the country's defence minister.
The renewed violence has raised concerns about worsening instability despite ongoing military campaigns.

The organisation has played a growing role in Mali's security following the departure of French forces and the reduction of other international military missions.
Mali has faced a persistent insurgency since 2012, with separatist movements and Islamist militant groups continuing to challenge government control in several regions.
