South Korea have booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking their 11th consecutive qualification for the global tournament, following a 2–0 victory over Iraq on Thursday.

Under the guidance of head coach Hong Myung-bo, the Taegeuk Warriors triumphed in their ninth Group B fixture in the third round of the Asian qualifiers, held at Basra International Stadium in southern Iraq.

Second-half goals from Kim Jin-gyu and Oh Hyeon-gyu sealed the win, ensuring South Korea's position no lower than second in their group — enough to guarantee automatic qualification for the World Cup.

With the top two teams in each group advancing directly to the tournament, South Korea’s qualification is now secure, regardless of the result in their final qualifier against Kuwait, which takes place on Tuesday in Seoul.

This achievement continues South Korea’s remarkable streak, having qualified for every FIFA World Cup since Mexico 1986.
