Chelsea have announced that Sjoeke Nüsken has signed a contract extension which will keep her at the club until the summer of 2027.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Blues from Eintracht Frankfurt in her native Germany ahead of the 2023/24 season, making her debut in Chelsea’s opening-day victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Nüsken made an immediate impression after joining the club, netting her first career hat-trick in a 4–2 league win over Brighton & Hove Albion in October 2023.

During her first season at Stamford Bridge, she made 38 appearances and scored 12 goals across all competitions, helping Chelsea secure the Women’s Super League (WSL) title on the final day of the campaign.

Nüsken continued to play a pivotal role in the 2024/25 season, featuring 36 times and scoring five goals as Chelsea completed a domestic treble under head coach Sonia Bompastor.

Upon signing her new deal, Nüsken expressed her delight at committing her future to the club:

“I’m very happy to stay at Chelsea for another year. We have a big season ahead, and hopefully we can achieve the Champions League title. We want to achieve a lot together.”

Chelsea’s Head of Women’s Football, Paul Green, added:

“We’re really pleased that Sjoeke has renewed her contract with Chelsea. She has been an important part of our success over the past couple of years, and we look forward to seeing her continue to contribute this season.”

A combative, technical, and athletic midfielder, Nüsken is capable of playing both defensively and in a box-to-box role. Her outstanding performances in her debut season earned her a Ballon d’Or nomination, where she finished 25th among the world’s best players.

On the international stage, Nüsken has represented Germany at Under-17, Under-19, and Under-20 levels before breaking into the senior national team. She featured at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and later travelled to her first Olympic Games in Paris 2024, where she helped Germany win the bronze medal after a 1–0 victory over Spain in Lyon.

Earlier this year, she was also instrumental in Germany’s run to the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 semi-finals, scoring two goals in four appearances during the tournament.

Chelsea said the club is “thrilled” to have secured Nüsken’s services for the long term and looks forward to seeing her continue to thrive in blue.
