Serie A outfit Como have reportedly emerged as a surprise contender for the signature of Manchester United winger Antony, as speculation mounts over the Brazilian’s future.

The 25-year-old has struggled to meet expectations since his £85 million move from Ajax to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022. Deemed surplus to requirements at United, Antony was loaned to Spanish side Real Betis for the second half of last season.

During his stint in Andalusia, the Brazil international enjoyed a notable upturn in form, registering nine goals and five assists in 26 competitive appearances under manager Manuel Pellegrini. His contributions proved instrumental in Betis reaching the UEFA Europa Conference League final and securing Europa League qualification via a sixth-place La Liga finish.

Como Enter Race for Antony
While Betis are eager to retain Antony’s services, negotiations with Manchester United are necessary, as the original loan deal did not include a purchase option.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, newly ambitious Serie A side Como are now rivalling Betis in the race to land the winger ahead of the 2025–26 campaign. Co-owned by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, Como have shown intent in the transfer market, having already secured the signings of Martin Baturina, Álex Valle, Ignace Van der Brempt, and Fellipe Jack.

Despite their interest, the Italian club are thought to be trailing Betis in the battle for Antony’s signature.

Player Committed to Betis Return
Antony is understood to have made his stance clear to Manchester United — his preference is to return to Real Betis next season. The Brazilian became a fan favourite at the Estadio Benito Villamarín and is reportedly keen to continue his development in Spain.

Betis supporters have been vocal in their desire to see the former Ajax star return, and the club are believed to be actively working on a deal. However, as it stands, no agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

Antony is hoping a resolution can be found soon, particularly as he is expected to be omitted from Manchester United’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States next month.
