Jack Grealish appears increasingly likely to leave Manchester City this summer, with fresh reports indicating he will be left out of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Jack Grealish Set to Miss Club World Cup as Manchester City Exit Looms

The £100 million signing from Aston Villa has struggled to establish himself since arriving at the Etihad in 2021, contributing just 17 goals in 157 appearances. This season, he has slipped further down the pecking order, registering only a single Premier League goal.
His peripheral status was further underlined during the FA Cup final, where Grealish remained unused on the bench despite City trailing Crystal Palace. Guardiola instead introduced 19-year-old Argentine debutant Claudio Echeverri in a bid to change the game.
While speculation over a summer move has persisted for months, the situation has escalated. According to The Daily Telegraph, Grealish will not travel with the squad to the United States, where City will compete in the Club World Cup, effectively confirming his status as surplus to requirements.
Now 29, the winger was also omitted from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming matches against Andorra and Senegal. Nevertheless, Grealish hopes a strong 2025–26 campaign could put him back in contention for the 2026 World Cup.
Regular first-team football will be essential to that ambition, and City are reportedly willing to assist in finding a new club. There is expected to be interest from both Premier League sides and European clubs, although Grealish’s £300,000-per-week wages may prove an obstacle. A loan arrangement has not been ruled out.
His current contract runs until June 2027.
Manchester City begin their Club World Cup campaign on 18 June in Philadelphia, facing Wydad Casablanca in the opening match. They will also play Juventus and Al Ain during the group stage.
