West Ham United have sacked Graham Potter after only nine months at the helm, with the club’s hierarchy losing patience just two days before their Premier League clash with Everton.

Potter, who previously managed Chelsea, was appointed last December but came under heavy criticism from supporters during last weekend’s defeat to Crystal Palace. The Hammers’ board has now acted decisively, leaving the club searching for a fourth manager in just 18 months.

A club statement confirmed:
“West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club. Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.”

The statement also announced the immediate departures of Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First-Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcís Pèlach, Lead Goalkeeping Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeping Coach Linus Kandolin.

“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future,” the club added.

West Ham confirmed that the process of appointing a replacement is already under way, though no further comment will be made at this stage.

Potter leaves the London Stadium with West Ham struggling for form, and his dismissal highlights the club’s continued instability in the dugout as they attempt to secure their Premier League status.
