Rúben Amorim insists he remains the right man to lead Manchester United, despite Saturday’s damaging 3-1 defeat at Brentford intensifying scrutiny over his future.
Rúben Amorim Defiant Amid Manchester United Sack Pressure After Brentford Defeat

The Portuguese coach has collected just 34 points from a possible 99 since taking charge nearly a year ago, winning only nine of his 33 Premier League matches. United were two goals down inside 20 minutes after Igor Thiago struck twice for the Bees, before Benjamin Šeško halved the deficit with his first goal since a £74 million summer move.
Skipper Bruno Fernandes squandered the chance to equalise from the penalty spot, and Brentford substitute Mathias Jensen sealed victory in stoppage time with a superb strike, leaving United mired in crisis once again.
Despite the latest setback, Amorim maintained he retains belief in his project:
“I’m always doing my job,” he said. “If I win, I’m in a different state of mind – that’s normal. But I’m always confident because I know what to do. I’m not here just to protect the players; I’m trying to do what is best for the club and the team.
“I try to be really objective in my analysis of the game. Today we played Brentford’s game, not our own. And when you play the opponent’s game, it’s harder to win. We never settled down, we never pushed the opponent. In the final third, we missed a lot of crosses. That’s frustrating.
“We can do better with the ball, we can have more control. Sometimes when decisions are not in your favour, you still need to show personality, calm the game, and control it. When you win, you feel momentum is with you. When you lose, you go back to the same place and have to fight again for the one win that can create momentum.”
United forward Matheus Cunha echoed his manager’s frustration:
“Right now, to say something is really, really hard. We know how important it is to wear this shirt and win every game. It’s very frustrating to come here and not win because every Premier League match is important for us this season. We need to do more.”
The defeat leaves Amorim under mounting pressure, with United’s season already in danger of unravelling.
