Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Spain international Marc Cucurella in a deal worth up to €60 million (£51.8 million).
Real Madrid Agree Deal with Chelsea for Marc Cucurella as Spain Defender Nears LaLiga Return – Reports
The left-back is currently with Spain in the United States ahead of their opening fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Cape Verde, but reports suggest he is now expected to leave Stamford Bridge following the tournament and continue his career in LaLiga under José Mourinho.
Cucurella Set for Chelsea Exit After Three Seasons
Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2022 in a deal reportedly valued at around £60 million.
Following an inconsistent start to life in west London, the defender established himself as an important figure under Enzo Maresca and became one of Chelsea’s more reliable performers.
However, speculation surrounding his future intensified earlier this year after comments in which he expressed frustration over the club’s direction following managerial changes and recruitment decisions.
If completed, the transfer would bring an end to a three-year spell at Stamford Bridge during which Cucurella made 163 appearances across all competitions.
Return to Spain After Career Rise Through Getafe and Brighton
Born in Catalonia, Cucurella emerged through Barcelona’s academy system but found first-team opportunities limited, making only a single senior appearance in the Copa del Rey.
His career accelerated following a successful move to Getafe, where his performances attracted Premier League interest.
Brighton moved quickly to secure his signature and, after only one season in England, Chelsea completed a high-profile transfer for the attacking full-back.
Now, Real Madrid appear set to bring the 27-year-old back to Spanish football.
Mourinho Era Continues to Shape Madrid Plans
Cucurella’s proposed arrival would represent another significant move as José Mourinho reportedly begins shaping his squad for the new campaign.
Strengthening defensive areas has emerged as a clear priority as Real Madrid seek to reinforce the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Amorim Linked with AC Milan Role
Elsewhere in European football, former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the vacant managerial position at AC Milan.
The Portuguese coach has been out of management since leaving Old Trafford earlier this year after a challenging spell in charge.
Pedro Porro Commits Future to Tottenham
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have secured the long-term future of Pedro Porro.
The Spanish right-back has agreed a contract extension keeping him at the club until the summer of 2031 despite attracting interest from several leading European clubs.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi welcomed the agreement, saying:
“This new contract is good news for everyone at the club. We believe in Pedro, and I am excited to continue working with him and helping him achieve even more in the coming years.”
The extension is viewed as an important part of Tottenham’s plans as they continue building for the future.
