Jim Geoghan, the television writer and producer best known for co-creating The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, has died aged 79. Alongside Danny Kallis, Geoghan helped create the Disney Channel series that became a defining part of childhood for millions of viewers during its three-season run from 2005 to 2008.

A Defining Disney Channel Legacy

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody starred twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse as Zack and Cody Martin, alongside Ashley Tisdale, Brenda Song, Phil Lewis and Kim Rhodes. The series followed the mischievous twins as they lived in a luxury hotel and became involved in a series of comic adventures.

The programme became one of Disney Channel's most recognisable sitcoms and helped establish several of its young stars as household names.

The Story Continued On Deck

Geoghan's involvement with the franchise continued beyond the original series. He co-created The Suite Life on Deck, which ran from 2008 to 2011, and also wrote The Suite Life Movie, released in 2011.

He also had a career in theatre, with his play Only Kidding running for 500 performances Off-Broadway. His later play Light Sensitive was produced more than 40 times across the United States.

Kim Rhodes, who played Carey Martin in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, remembered him as one of the most incredible people she had known and recalled a deeply personal act of kindness he showed her after the death of her mother.

Cole Sprouse also remembered Geoghan as a positive and optimistic presence who played an important leadership role during the show's production.
