Luis Díaz has addressed growing speculation over his Liverpool future following reports that Barcelona submitted a bid for the Colombian forward — a proposal the Merseyside club swiftly rejected.
Luis Díaz Clarifies Liverpool Future After Club Reject Barcelona Approach

Liverpool, fresh from clinching their 20th English league title, remain adamant that Díaz is not for sale. The 27-year-old played a key role in their 2024/25 Premier League triumph, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists. Interest in Díaz is nothing new; alongside Barcelona, Saudi Arabian clubs and several Premier League rivals were said to be monitoring his situation as far back as last summer.
Speaking amid the latest transfer rumours, Díaz made it clear he is content at Anfield — though he stopped short of completely ruling out a future move.
"I'm very happy at Liverpool — I've always said so," the winger stated. "They've welcomed me very well."
However, Díaz also acknowledged that his long-term future may depend on the outcome of contract discussions with the club.
"The transfer market is opening, and we're trying to arrange what's best for us. I'm waiting to see what happens," he continued. "If Liverpool give us a good extension or I have to see out my two-year contract, I'll be happy. It all depends on them. I'm here to decide and see what's best for us and the future."
Díaz is expected to feature prominently in Arne Slot’s plans for the upcoming campaign, having impressed the new manager during Liverpool’s title-winning season. The club will only consider parting ways with him if a sizeable offer is received or if Díaz himself initiates a transfer request.
In the meantime, Liverpool have already made strides in the transfer market. They secured Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for under £30 million — their first signing of the summer. Additional targets reportedly include Frimpong’s team-mate Florian Wirtz and Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez.
Slot has played down the need for sweeping changes, stating last month:
“We have just won the league, we were so competitive against PSG, it is not easy to find better players to improve us. They need to be available and we need to be able to afford them.”
Captain Virgil van Dijk echoed that sentiment, emphasising faith in the club’s transfer strategy:
“Whatever happens in terms of players going out, players coming in, I think it should be a big summer. I think they're planning to make it a big summer, so we all have to trust the board, as Liverpool-connected fans, to do the right job. I think Liverpool should be able to challenge for titles in the upcoming years.”
