Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah expressed his pride after making history by winning the PFA Men’s Player of the Year award for a record third time.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah ‘So Proud’ After Making History With Third PFA Player of the Year Award; Morgan Rogers Named Young Player of the Year

The 33-year-old Egyptian star, who scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists as Liverpool clinched the Premier League title last season, had previously won the award in 2018 and 2022. Salah is now the first player to claim the honour on three separate occasions.
He beat competition from Liverpool team-mate Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
Reflecting on his achievement at the awards ceremony in Manchester, Salah said:
“I look at myself now, a guy coming from Egypt and making it to the top level, making history today — it’s something that makes me so proud.”
When asked about Liverpool’s prospects following a summer spend of over £270 million, Salah was cautious:
“You can’t say yes or no; it’s tricky. We’ve signed very good talent, but we also let some great players leave — and you all know what happened with one of our team-mates.
“You have to give your experience to the new players, because playing for Liverpool is not easy at all. There’s huge pressure from the media and the expectations around the club. Virgil [van Dijk], myself and the senior players are doing our best to help them adapt.”
Morgan Rogers Crowned Young Player of the Year
Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was named PFA Young Player of the Year after an impressive campaign that saw him score 14 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions.
The 21-year-old joins a distinguished list of past winners that includes Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Gareth Bale and David Beckham. Speaking to BBC Sport, Rogers said:
“Later down the line, I want to be one of those incredible players people speak about. To do that I need to follow the same path they did. This award is a nice recognition, but there’s more to achieve — and I can’t wait.”
Other Winners Across the Divisions
Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey won the PFA Women’s Player of the Year after helping the Gunners secure UEFA Champions League glory, while club-record signing Olivia Smith claimed the Women’s Young Player of the Year award.
Elsewhere, new Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford was named PFA Championship Player of the Year after keeping 29 clean sheets for Burnley last season as they secured promotion.
Striker Richard Kone, who recently signed for Queens Park Rangers, earned the League One award following his 18 goals for Wycombe Wanderers. Bromley’s Michael Cheek was recognised with the League Two accolade after scoring 25 goals last term.
