Harry Kane was on the scoresheet as Bayern Munich secured a record-extending 35th Bundesliga title with an emphatic 4-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena

Kane netted his 32nd league goal of the season, while Raphael Guerreiro, Nicolas Jackson and Alphonso Davies also found the net to complete a dominant display. Stuttgart responded through Chris Führich and Chema Andrés, but the result was never in doubt as Bayern sealed the title with four matches to spare.

The Bavarian side required just a point to confirm their triumph following Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat at TSG Hoffenheim, a result which effectively opened the door for Bayern to wrap up the championship on home soil.

Dominant Comeback Seals Title

Despite rotating his squad ahead of a German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen, head coach Vincent Kompany saw his side respond emphatically after falling behind.

Stuttgart took a surprise lead in the 21st minute through Führich, but Bayern swiftly turned the contest around with three goals in a blistering seven-minute spell.

Jamal Musiala set up Guerreiro for the equaliser before Luis Díaz provided two quick assists, enabling Jackson and Davies to fire Bayern into a commanding lead before the interval.

Kane then added a fourth early in the second half, effectively ending the contest and ensuring the title celebrations could begin in earnest.

Although Andrés pulled one back late on for Stuttgart, Bayern had already eased off, with the focus shifting to their latest Bundesliga triumph.

Record-Breaking Campaign

The title once again underlines Bayern Munich’s sustained dominance in German football. The club have now won 13 of the last 14 Bundesliga titles and extended their all-time tally to 35 — more than any other side, with no rival reaching double figures.

This season has also been historic in terms of attacking output. Bayern have scored 109 league goals — the highest total in Bundesliga history — surpassing the previous record set during the 1971–72 campaign.

With 79 points and a goal difference of +80, Kompany’s side are on course to achieve a remarkable statistical milestone. Should the season conclude with those figures intact, Bayern would become the first team in Bundesliga history to record a goal difference higher than their points tally.

Victory in all four remaining fixtures would see them reach 91 points, equalling the benchmark set by their treble-winning side of 2012–13.

Individual Milestones in Sight

Kane’s prolific form continues to headline Bayern’s success. The England captain, who recently became the first English player since the 1930–31 season to score 50 goals in all competitions in a single campaign, remains within touching distance of Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga record of 41 goals in a season.

Meanwhile, Michael Olise has registered 18 assists, leaving him just three short of the all-time single-season record set by Thomas Müller in the 2019–20 campaign.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga

Earlier on Sunday, SC Freiburg boosted their European ambitions with a 2-1 victory over bottom side 1. FC Heidenheim.

Johan Manzambi gave Freiburg the lead before Budu Zivzivadze equalised shortly before the hour mark. Maximilian Eggestein then struck the winner with seven minutes remaining, lifting Freiburg above Eintracht Frankfurt into seventh place.

The defeat leaves Heidenheim in deep relegation trouble, sitting seven points adrift of the play-off spot and 11 points from safety with four matches remaining.

Later on Sunday, Borussia Mönchengladbach are scheduled to host Mainz 05.
