Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues has been fined ₹12 lakh after her side was found to have maintained a slow over-rate during their Women’s Premier League (WPL) clash against Gujarat Giants.

The offence occurred during Delhi Capitals’ narrow three-run defeat at the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday, a result that saw the team slip to fourth place in the WPL points table.

Confirming the sanction in an official statement, the WPL said: “Jemimah Rodrigues, captain of Delhi Capitals, has been fined after her team maintained a slow over-rate during their match against Gujarat Giants at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara on Tuesday.”

The statement added that, as it was Rodrigues’ first over-rate offence of the season under the WPL Code of Conduct, the fine was set at ₹12 lakh.

Delhi Capitals currently have six points with a net run rate of -0.164 and remain locked in a tight battle for a top-three finish and a place in the WPL play-offs.

Rodrigues’ side will look to bounce back in their next fixture when they face bottom-placed UP Warriorz on February 1.
