2029 Champions League Final at Camp Nou?
UEFA has officially confirmed that Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou is among the shortlisted venues to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final, alongside the legendary Wembley Stadium in England.
With the deadline for bid submissions now passed, Spain and England have emerged as the two nations vying to stage the most significant match in European club football in 2029.
Wembley, one of the world’s most iconic football arenas, boasts a rich history, deep-rooted tradition, and world-class modern facilities.
Challenging the London landmark will be Barcelona’s grand coliseum, which is set to reopen its doors to supporters soon after a major redevelopment that has kept fans away for more than two years.
The revamped Spotify Camp Nou will feature an increased capacity and state-of-the-art infrastructure, enhancing its reputation as one of football’s most spectacular and distinctive stadiums.
Wembley has previously hosted Champions League finals in 1963, 1968, 1971, 1978, 1992, 2011 – both occasions when Barcelona triumphed – and most recently in 2024, when Real Madrid lifted the trophy.
As for the Camp Nou, it has staged the final twice before – in the 1989 season and again in 1999, when Manchester United produced a dramatic comeback to defeat Bayern Munich in one of the most memorable finals in football history.
It remains to be seen whether the Spotify Camp Nou will be awarded the honour of hosting Europe’s showpiece event for a third time in 2029.
