Zambia opened their WAFCON campaign with a 6-0 thrashing of Egypt in Rabat, with Barbra Banda scoring four goals. The victory, the tournament's biggest margin so far, sent Zambia to the top of Group C with three points. Racheal Nachula and Eneless Phiri also scored as Zambia dominated the match.

Zambia produced the biggest win of the ongoing Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament on Tuesday, defeating Egypt 6-0 in Rabat, Morocco, as Barbra Banda scored four goals to lead a dominant performance.
The victory moved Zambia to the top of Group C with three points, putting the team in a strong position as the group stage continues.
The group also includes record 10-time champions and defending champions Nigeria, alongside tournament debutants Malawi.

BANDA SHOWS WHY SHE IS AMONG AFRICA'S BEST

Banda was the standout player at the Olympic Stadium in the Moroccan capital, producing a four-goal performance that underlined her reputation as one of the continent's leading women's footballers.
The 26-year-old forward, who plays for Orlando Pride in the United States, was a constant threat to the Egyptian defence throughout the match.
Her performance also strengthened Zambia's position as one of the teams to watch in this year's tournament.

ZAMBIA TAKE EARLY LEAD FROM THE PENALTY SPOT

Despite controlling possession and spending much of the match in Egypt's half, Zambia went into the break with only a 1-0 lead.
The opening goal came from the penalty spot after Egypt's Amira Mohamed fouled Banda inside the area.
Veteran forward Racheal Nachula stepped up to take the penalty and calmly converted it to give Zambia the advantage.
The 40-year-old's experience helped Zambia establish control before the second half brought a dramatic change in the scoreline.

BANDA TAKES OVER AFTER HALF-TIME

Banda doubled Zambia's lead shortly after the hour mark after Egypt conceded another penalty following a handball.
She confidently sent goalkeeper Maha Shehata the wrong way to make it 2-0.
Just three minutes later, Banda struck again.
Egypt's goalkeeper appeared to anticipate a deep cross from Prisca Chilufya, but the delivery instead travelled towards the near post, allowing Banda to rise and head the ball into the net.
Zambia's attacking pressure continued as Egypt struggled to contain their opponents.

FOUR-GOAL HERO COMPLETES THE ROUT

Banda completed her hat-trick when Egypt failed to clear a dangerous goalmouth scramble late in the match.
The ball fell kindly to the Zambian forward, who stretched out her right foot and fired it into the net.
With the match already beyond Egypt's reach, Zambia added two more goals in stoppage time.
Substitute Eneless Phiri scored Zambia's fifth goal before Banda completed her remarkable individual performance with a low shot that beat Shehata at the near post.
The final scoreline read Zambia 6-0 Egypt.

ZAMBIA TAKE EARLY GROUP C ADVANTAGE

The emphatic victory gives Zambia an early advantage in Group C, although the team still faces strong competition from Nigeria and Malawi.
Nigeria, the record 10-time WAFCON champions and defending title holders, will be expected to challenge for the top spot and another deep run in the tournament.
Malawi, meanwhile, are making their debut at the competition and will be hoping to cause an upset.
Zambia's six-goal victory is also the widest winning margin recorded so far at this year's 16-team tournament, surpassing Morocco's 4-0 victory over Kenya.
