Lamine Yamal continued his remarkable rise on Wednesday night as the Barcelona teenager set another Champions League record during his side’s victory over Copenhagen.

The 18-year-old became the youngest player to reach eight goals in the competition, achieving the feat at 18 years and 199 days. The previous record had been held by Kylian Mbappé, who reached the same milestone at 18 years and 302 days, according to Spanish statistician Mister Chip.

Yamal also registered an assist on the night, underlining his growing influence on the biggest stage in European football. His display marked the third time he has both scored and assisted in a single Champions League match — a record he now shares with Mbappé.

It is not the first occasion on which Yamal has eclipsed the French forward’s achievements. Last season, the Barcelona prodigy became the youngest player to score in a Champions League semi-final, finding the net at just 17 years and 291 days.

The teenager’s numbers this season continue to underline his rapid development. Yamal now has 13 goals and 13 assists in 28 appearances across all competitions for Hansi Flick’s side, firmly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.

His contribution against Copenhagen proved decisive as Barcelona secured a top-eight finish in the Champions League league phase, guaranteeing automatic qualification for the last 16 and avoiding the play-off round.
