Chelsea have urged their supporters to exercise “extreme caution” while in Naples after two fans were injured ahead of the club’s Champions League fixture against Napoli.
Chelsea Urge ‘Extreme Caution’ After Supporters Injured in Naples
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, less than 24 hours before Chelsea face the Serie A side at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in the final round of the group phase.
In a statement posted on the club’s official X account, Chelsea confirmed that two supporters were receiving medical treatment in hospital but stressed that their injuries were not life-threatening.
“The club is aware of an incident that took place on Tuesday evening in Naples,” the statement read.
“Two fans are being treated in hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“The club would like to remind all supporters to exercise extreme caution whilst in the city and to take note of the advice shared ahead of this fixture.”
Chelsea are aiming to secure a top-eight finish in the Champions League standings, which would guarantee automatic qualification for the last 16 and allow them to avoid next month’s play-off round.
Victory in Naples would significantly boost the Blues’ hopes of progressing directly to the knockout stage as they look to continue their European campaign without additional fixtures added to an already demanding schedule.
